Thanks for coming, thanks for staying. Yes it ran longer than it should and we will learn from that and do better next time. But - You have to admit it was a heck of a party. |

Joe Collier of Clyde went for the track competition record and lowered the bar considerably from the old 4.42 mark set in 1993. The new mark is now 3.94 @ 181.09. Joe made the pass running in Open Trophy. Joe didn't win a trophy and tossed out some parts on the second try to lower the mark even more. We'll bet he'll try to set the record again pretty soon. |

Thanks to the Rocky Mountain Thunder Jet Funny and the Invader Jet Dragster. Invader is going to take away Ansel Horton's jet record one of these days. The 3.87 @ 210 is only .24 and 2 MPH off |

| Ordinarily you'd see more pictures here - check the raceabilene.com link below, we should have them up in a day or so. We only shot 856 pictures so it might take us a bit. Maybe we'll get some more on here tomorrow. The web people are going to bed for only the second time on this beautiful Sunday. See you in two weeks. |

Southwest Superchargers: The Southwest Superchargers brought 17 cars to the race. Old style slingshot dragsters, Altereds, a couple of door cars - all loud, all fast. The superchargers run against a 4.70 index, but are free to wing it out should the round allow. The eventual runner up Jake Penner from Seminole let his riar motor dragster fly to a 4.53 in the second round when then opponent Julian Moody red lit. After Jake and event winner Ray Stringer worked through a 16 car field, the race was decided on the starting line by the "first or worst" rule. Ray (top) takes the win with a -.0217 red light and a 4.78 @ 144.05. Jake runner's up only because he left quicker with a -.0354 red light. He clocked a faster 4.63 @ 148.17. This is Penner's second runner up at Abilene. The Supercharger's third visit will be at the Abilene Shooout, maybe 3's a charm for Jake?

Note - because of DQs and such, we may not have the race breakdown in the Winner's Circle exactly right. We will update our stats when the superchargers post their official race results. The race director escaped before we could get a copy of the paperwork.

| A.J. Enterprises Top ET: Kevin Bracey (top) topped off the long race night with a .001 light and a 4.85 on a 4.80 dial to grab the win in Top. Jeb Edwards came all the way from Labe, Oklahoma and took home runner up honors, running 5.28 on a 5.26 with a .052 reaction time. |

 |
| Audio Magic Modified ET: Modified stuck it out to the end and in the final it was Robert Hector taking home the winner's sticker and cash. Linda Lamb from Lubbock went -005 red and that was that. Red's no good, but to still be that quick at 5:30AM is quite a feat. It would have been a close race - Robert hit a .026 light and ran 8.733 on a 8.70 dial with Linda running 5.837 on a 5.80. |
