Serious Stuff - Special Olympics
First up was the balloon race.  This is where you place a balloon between faive people and make a lap on the designated course.  Abilene scores a point for second.
Next came the "gum chew" race.  A piece of gum was placed in a bowl full of whipped creme and the first team to find the gum, chew it and blow a bubble wins.  The Bettis sisters get it done - Abilene wins!
Ping Pong blow race.  Five team members take turns blowing a ping pong ball out and back on a designated course.  There was some confusion on the no touch rules and the race was re-run.  Abilene's ball was crushed in the subsequent melee.  Whatever.
The teams were given a tow sack and asked to decorate it to reflect their team theme.  And then what do you do with a tow sack?  Well, you have a race! The the track operators jumped in the sacks and tried to negotiate the required course.  Pine Valley was mere feet from a win when a spin out and crash allowed Abilene to zoom in for the win!  Abilene takes the Special Olympics win by one point!
If you were there, you know there was one other.  If you want to know more about this, then you'll just have to sign up for the points program, get on the team and come to the 2009 Bracket Finals.  And when you hear "We need one racer from each team wearing racer pants"...hide!
Friday Night Gamblers:  Johnny Brazell runnered up in the Firday Top Gamblers.  Johnny went .019 on the tree but broke out, hitting a 6.2669 on a 6.27 dial.
Saturday - Jr Dragster Final
Dustin Douglas meets up with Dylan Lee of Team San Antonio in the Jr. Dragster final. Both racers dialed 7.90 to make it a heads up, all out race.  Dustin got the light, hitting a .038 to Dylan's .086.  And in the lights it was Dustin with a 7.8794 breakout to Dylan's 7.8714 breakout.  The home town crowd reacts favorably.
Saturday - Top ET Final
Team Redline and the Abilene Outlaws gather on the starting line to cheer on their racers in Saturday's final round of racing.  It's Joe Collier up against Bryan McClain of Rowlett.  Joe gets a bit off the tree, hitting .031 to Bryan's .041.  Joe needed every bit of that bulb because on the top end it's Joe with a 4.9897 on a 4.98 and Bryan with a 6.5836 on a 6.58 dial.  At the stripe, it's Joe by .0035.
Sunday - Jr Dragster Race of Champions
We didn't get the figures for the Jr. Race of Champions, but Dustin doubled up this weekend and that's pretty good shootin'
Any wonder how we captured the team spirit award?
Team shirts were the preferred Saturday wear
Track Operator Dean Kennedy won the first round of the Track Op race, then fell with a -.006 red in the 2nd.
