In north Texas, we say if you don't like the weather wait a minute and you'll get something else.  So we enjoyed a mild Friday and Saturday knowing that the forecast for Sunday was potentially dismal with rain, cold and maybe even snow by Tuesday.  After staring at a potentially bad Sunday forecast all day long on Saturday, we decided to go ahead and start race #2 on Saturday night.  We completed two rounds and put things on hold at about 1 AM.  On Sunday, we remained hopeful but we unfortunately got all the weather service predicted. The track was prepped and ready about 10:30am.  It was 48F for the Modified time trial and 60 foots and ETs were even better than Saturday.  Jay Campbell reported his best 60' ever and Debbie Kelly ran the same 7.68 as she ran at Redline Raceway, which is over 1000' feet lower in altitude.  As much fun as all that was, as soon at Top got the the head of the lanes for their shot at the track it started raining.  It rained a bit, then stopped, then rained a bit more and kept getting colder and finally we just had to give it up.  There were 37 left in Top on both run cards, 28 in Modified and 7 in Jr.  We split up the purse and wished all a safe trip home and a wonderful holiday season.  Thanks to all that came to race with us and we hope to see you all again in 2010!
A special Thank you to Sterling Robertson of Sterling Volkswagen for his sponsorship of this event.

FRIDAY POKER RESULTS AND DIAL FOR DOLLARS
Debbie Gowler did a double take when she found out that she had doubled up by winning both the Modified Dial for Dollars and the $1000 Poker Hand Test-n-Tune on Friday.  Debbie's Dial for Dollars run was 7.3320 on a 7.33 dial and her poker hand was the 6 through 10 of Diamonds, giving her a straight flush.  Hard to beat that and dead on with a 2.  In Top Dial for Dollars, Stu West took half the entry money with a 6.0414 on a 6.40 dial and a killer .004 light, just in case there was a tie breaker.  In Jr, Daniel Herod of Jacksboro ran 7.9594 on a 7.95 to lay claim to some spending money.
RACE #1 RESULTS

A. J. Enterprizes Top ET: Kevin Bracey took the $5000 first prize in the first Top ET race, handing a runner up finish to Wynette Hudgins in the final round.  Kevin won this lap on the tree with a .015 reaction time, then hitting the finish line with a 4.911 on a 4.90 dial.  Wynette had been riding a 5.51 most of the day but came up a hair short in the last round with a 5.521 on a 5.51 and a .034 light.

Pinnacle Countertop Solutions Modified ET: Lane Britt of Waco made some Christmas spending money when he took the win in Race #1 Modified ET.  Tommy Wade of Abilene scored the runner up spot.  In the final, Lane went .086 on the tree and finished with a 7.051 on a 7.04 dial.  Tommy had a better light at .078 but ran farther off the dial, clocking 7.623 on a 7.60.

Longmire Plumbing Jr. Dragster: Cade Johnson of Tuscola and Cole Carpenter of Crystoval met up in the Jr. final round.  This was going to be a stand out race from the start as both cars were dialed almost the same.  Cade dialed in at 8.97 and Cole set up at 8.96.  To add more excitement to the round, both drivers left the line at the same instant with identical .093 lights.  At the finish line, it was Cade running closer to the dial with a 8.99 on his 8.97.  Cole took second place with a 9.01 on his 8.96.
Top Quick 16 $1000 Winner Take All: Les Herod of Jacksboro nabbed a quick $1000 in the Top Quick 16, taking the win after Bryan Bennett of Shallowater went red on the start.  Les was ready for the round, hitting a quick .010 reaction time and running 4.732 on a 4.73.  Bryan left with a too early -.012 and ran 4.74 on a 4.69 dial.  If we remember right, the quick bump was around 4.86 or so.  And since you asked - no it was not all dragsters, Jimmy Dickey was in the top 16 holding up the door car end of things.
Dialing for Dollars: Saturday Dial for Dollars winners were - Top ET: J. Curnutte 4.7207 on a 4.72, Mod ET: J. Silva 7.0221 on a 7.02, D. Kelly 7.7545 on a 7.75.  Jr: M. Fulgham 12.9536 on a 12.95, J. Helfrich 11.2849 on a 11.28
